Pioneer bank, Firstbank Plc has consolidated its position as the oldest and largest bank in Nigeria by launching a digital lab, which it says will help reinvent the bank as the leader in digital financial offerings.

Situated in Yaba, Firstbank said the lab is part of the bank’s well-thought-out strategies to remain at the forefront of emerging technology in the financial space within Nigeria and beyond. “We have a responsibility as the oldest and largest bank to ensure we are at the forefront of disruptions that is disrupting the entire financial market,” said Dr. Kazeem Adeduntan, Managing Director of Firstbank.

He said the launch of the digital lab is to give Firstbank an edge in the digital banking space and brings out new innovations that will assist the bank to serve its customer better, stressing that the lab is a long term plan of the bank.

He added that apart from the innovations that will come out of the lab, there are other economy benefits such that employment would be created, even as he assured that Nigerians will experience a new wave of better, faster and more efficient banking.
