Computer Science students across Nigeria under the auspices of the Nigeria Association of Computer Science Students (NACOSS) will on Friday this week at the Foundation Polytechnic Ikot Idem, Ikot Ekpene Akwa Ibom State hold what it has tagged ‘Who We Are Now’ conference.

The 1-day conference, according to the National President of NACOSS, Abubakar Hassan Sadiq is targeted at reawakening the dead love for NACOSS amongst the students in Nigeria and re- orientate them to a paradigm shift in their viewership of the study of computer science as a course or profession.

“Some percentage of students are faced with identity crises which gives rise to students not being able to gain a global edge in this competitive world. Students that are faced with identity crisis cannot see themselves as the life wire of the technological growth in the nation and the world at large. This is what the conference, which will be attended by stakeholders who are considered as a role model in the Information Technology ecosystem will address,” explained Sadiq.

The conference is also set out to change the perspective of students by giving them the true core values and benefit of being a NACOSSITE and to educate the students on the technological trend in the world today.

Technology in Nigeria is still at the crawling stage, while other countries, especially in developed nations are flying. Thus, the conference tends to handle by awakening the minds of sleeping giants and set Nigeria on a fast lane to boost technological growth.

Those expected to grace the conference include Prof. Nse Udo Essien, Hon. Commissioner of Science And Technology in Akwa Ibom State; Hon. Luke Onofiok, Speaker Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly; Hon. Unyime Etim Okon,Ikot Ekpene Local Government Chairman and John Bassey Abang, Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police.

Others are Abubakar Hassan Sadiq, NACOSS National President; Emmanuel Amos,CEO Programos Software Group and Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, CEO Flutter Wave.
