Some of the students who participated and completed the last session of the CWG Academy have recounted their experience during the 12-week intensive and hands-on training programme, describing the period as memorable and awesome.

The students believe the Academy, which is the training and capacity building arm of CWG Plc, has prepared them to face the future with confidence and excel, especially in the Information and Communications Technology industry.

Narrating his experience, an alumnus of the academy who has been able to secure a job with one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions through the Academy, noted that the experience from the CWG Academy was a great one and something he will encourage every young person who wants to push a career in IT to undergo, explaining that CWG Academy offers the opportunity to be grounded in IT career path.

“CWG Academy gives you that big and broad opportunity to learn. To people out there who are still in search of an ICT training academy, I will advise them to choose CWG Academy.

Asked how he was able to secure the job, he narrated that as a student of the CWG Academy, an opportunity came from my current employers for people to apply for end-user support. “Initially, I did not want to apply but I later did. After the application, we were invited to an interview where I did well. I also believe they saw what has been impacted in me by CWG and this helped me get the job,” he stated.

Another alumnus, a graduate of Business Administration from the University of Calabar, said he discovered the CWG Academy when he went job-hunting there. He noted that he was encouraged to enroll in the Academy to develop himself in the Information Technology space.

“Getting enrolled in the CWG Academy was an eye-opener for me because I have always been looking for an opportunity to go into the IT world but I didn’t have that opportunity. My experience has been very awesome because like I said earlier, it opened my eye to what the IT world is all about.

Going forward, he has stated that he is hoping to get a job where he can be tutored the more because IT needs a lot of practical implementation.

Meanwhile, a recent graduate of the just concluded academy session has disclosed that the CWG Academy has exposed her to discover and pursue her passion in software and programming, stressing that the difference between the CWG Academy and other training academies is quite wide.

“The experience has been awesome and splendid. I have learned a whole lot coming here. The difference between here and where I am coming from is very clear. It is a passion that will carry me on at the end of the day. I am today specialized in the Finacle software. Going forward, I want to pursue a career in programming and customization for Finacle,” she noted.

Another has mentioned that enrolling in the CWG Academy was one of the best decisions he made. He said he got to know about the CWG Academy from his brother when he was looking for a foundation to build himself to be distinctive in the IT world.

“The experience learning at the CWG Academy was great. I have been looking for a foundation that I could use to build myself into the IT world and CWG provided that opportunity. Today, my knowledge about software applications has grown immensely,” he said.

According to Mr. Emmanuel Effiong, the Director of Study, the Academy is one of the many ways CWG is contributing her quota to Nation building by ways of helping to tackle the Nigerian unemployment quagmire.

Speaking at the last Academy’s graduation ceremony and presentation of certificates to the participating students, Mr. Effiong encouraged the students to continuously look forward to what the world will present to them with boldness and enthusiasms, adding that what they have been taught in the Academy will ultimately, gives them edge anywhere they found themselves.

“The CWG Academy is touted as one of the best in the country, but there is a need for you as graduating students to consistently learn and research as technology is dynamic,” he told them.

The Group Head, Human Resources at CWG Plc, Mrs. Tinu Adeyemi assured the graduating students that CWG Plc would always be in touch with them for any job and internship opportunity.

She said one of the cardinal roles of the Academy is to prepare young Nigerians for the employment market, which is dominated by people that have the necessary skills to face the real world.

“In over a decade, the CWG Academy has become a citadel of learning for those seeking skills in the world of Information and Communications Technology. While the Academy has imparted you with the knowledge and required skills to excel out there, we also see you as our priority when an employment opportunity comes from us or any of our clients because we trust the skills and knowledge you possess,” she assured.

The CWG Academy is a brainchild of CWG Plc, Nigeria’s largest system integration company. Since its inception over a decade ago, the Academy has trained and developed over 1,500 Professionals, many of whom acquired skills that earned them employment with Blue-Chip companies in Nigeria today. Some have also gone ahead to establish their own companies as entrepreneurs and are doing very well.
