The 2021 IT Assembly of the Computer Professionals (Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN), will hold next week Thursday in Abuja, the President/Chairman in Council, Prof. Charles Uwadia has announced.
Announcing this in a virtual press conference today, the President said the annual Assembly, which is the 15th edition in the series will hold virtually and physically with each attendee observing strictly to all the government Covid-19 pandemic protocols.
“Last year, due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, the year 2020 Information Technology Assembly/Annual General Meeting held online (virtual). While the pandemic has abated drastically, at least in this part of the world, it is safer to adhere to government guidelines until the pandemic is over; hence, this year’s Assembly will be a hybrid (both physical and virtual),” he announced.
Prof. Uwadia disclosed that this year’s assembly will purposefully serve as a platform for some of the industry’s most innovative technology distribution and service providers to showcase their products and services; thus, helping participants to appreciate the emerging technologies, trends and risks that are associated with transforming the various industries using IT.
According to him, the theme of the 2021 IT Professionals’ Assembly is, “Harnessing Digital Technologies for Social and Economic Recovery” and will hold at NICON Luxury (Formerly Le ‘Meridien Hotel), Abuja.
He added that, as is our practice, the IT Assembly will be preceded by the induction of about 300 new members into the IT profession, stressing that digital technologies have proved beyond measure, its applicability in achieving efficiency in all sectors during the COVID-19 pandemic, playing an indispensable role in sustaining social and economic activities.
“Challenges and risks also emerged in the course of embracing various digital innovations. Drawing on the global, regional, and national experiences, the 2021 IT Professionals’ Assembly will highlight the opportunities and challenges of building more innovations that can drive the economy of our nation. We envisage that in the years to come, Nigeria shall be a nation that has fully harnessed the potential of technological innovation to grow our economy and uplift our people,” the President stated further.
Meanwhile, the Keynote address will be delivered by Dr (Mrs.) Ifueko Omoigui Okauru, Managing Partner, Compliance Professionals Plc and former Executive Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
The CPN IT Assembly is an exclusive networking event for senior Information Technology (IT) decision-makers, IT consultants, IT entrepreneurs, IT Startups, IT practitioners, 2 | Page teachers and IT Systems administrators.
The Computer Professionals (Registration Council of Nigeria), (CPN) was established through Act No 49 of 1993. The Act was passed into law on the 10th of June and gazetted on the 9th of August that year. It is a corporate entity that is charged with the regulation, control and supervision of the computing profession and practice in Nigeria in line with Section 1 (2) of the Act.
