An education technology firm, Skool Media Nigeria Limited has called for the adoption of digital learning in schools across Nigeria, as the country joins the rest of the world to mark the 2021 Children’s Day celebration.
In a statement signed by the company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. Sola Oluwadare, Skool Media also pledges its support for the continued intervention in learning digitally in Nigerian schools, noting that it is the leeway to competitive and healthy development in the 21st century.
“Being a role model for the adoption of technology in education in Africa and a reference point for Ed-tech stakeholders in Nigeria, we believe that mechanisms should be put in place to ensure that Nigerian children continue to navigate post-Covid-19 era without adverse effect on their educational pursuits,” it said.
While commending the Federal Ministry of Education for its past and present efforts and the State Ministries of Education for various initiatives being embarked upon to ensure that our children do not suffer knowledge gap all through the Covid-19 period, the company urged all the examination bodies in the country to make the process of registration for various examinations less tedious by applying simple technology strategies that will make it seamless for our students.
The company added that as the students go through the process of writing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), organized by the Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB), Skool Media Nigeria Limited will give its support to JAMB anytime it requires it to put our students on the right path.
“We commend JAMB for the annual improvement in the deployment of technology for the registration and conduct of the UTME. We want to reiterate the need for JAMB to work assiduously with the Nigerian Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to make the exercise hassle-free.
As a matter of fact, a special window can be opened to the warehouse yet to be linked SIMs on the portal to allow these students to register for the exams after which the window will be used to link the NIN with the SIM later. This should be worked out by the two bodies followed by public enlightenment nationwide. Technology is not a zero-sum process that is devoid of alternative solutions,” it assured.
Skool Media is one of the major stakeholders committed to plugging the technology/ICT skill gaps in consonance with the emerging digital landscape of the 21st century in educational development, with the mandate of preparing the Nigerian child to take up the challenges of the modern workplace by developing relevant technology skills capable of making them compete universally with their contemporaries.
The company believes that there is no way students can cope with the next generation of tech giants without rich experience in the use of technological innovations to solve human problems.
With Skool Media current infrastructures, Student Technology Experience Centres, Digital Classrooms, Computer Based Test Centre, and other training services, Nigerian students remain strategically positioned to meet the demands of the 21st century.
