Apple’s IOS controls 1/3 of the global mobile market in Q4’22

As leading companies in the mobile market such as Apple and Google battle for supremacy, Apple’s iOS operating system gained ground against Android OS in the global market share in the fourth quarter of 2022.

According to Edith Reads of StockApps.com, Apple’s iOS saw an increase in market share worldwide in Q4’22 and now controls nearly one-third of the mobile device market.

“Apple is gaining ground in the mobile market due to its focus on customer experience, innovative designs, and quality products. With the introduction of its new flagship iPhone 14 Pro Max, Apple has given itself a competitive edge and attracted more users to its platform. Android is losing market share in key markets like China due to its lack of innovation and fragmentation, which have caused customers to switch over to Apple.”

Meanwhile, Android still dominates the market when it comes to mobile operating systems even though Apple’s iOS is considered more user-friendly and has a broader range of apps available.

Edith Reads believes that one of the main reasons for Android’s dominance is that it is an open-source platform. Thus, manufacturers can use it on their devices without licensing fees. This has resulted in a wide range of Android-powered devices being available at all price points.

Another reason for Android’s popularity is that it is highly customizable. Users can change the look and feel of their devices by downloading different themes and wallpapers. They can also add or remove features using various apps on the Google Play Store.

Despite its many advantages, Android does have some drawbacks. It can be quite resource-intensive, resulting in slower performance on older devices. Besides, it has variations in the quality of apps available, which is not always the case with iOS.

    Reason for Apple growing popularity

One of the reasons for the growth is the quality of the iPhone and iPad devices. Apple’s hardware is widely considered the best in the business. And that quality reflects in the user experience. iOS is also a very stable and user-friendly platform, which is essential for many clients.

Another reason for Apple’s growing popularity is the App Store. The App Store is home to millions of high-quality apps, and it’s easy to find your favourite app.

Also, Apple’s services are becoming more popular with customers. Services such as iCloud, Apple Music and Apple Pay are available on all Apple devices. These services make it easier for customers to access their data and content wherever they are.

Overall, the competition between Android and iOS is expected to continue in the coming years. However, Apple’s recent success indicates that there may be a shift in the mobile market share in favour of iOS.

Despite its growing popularity, Apple’s iOS has lately been subjected to Ad related frauds more than any mobile operating system. This has lowered clients’ confidence and trust in their services. Apple is taking steps to address this issue by introducing more security measures and fraud prevention plans.
