Gombe State’s newly appointed Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Yahaya, recently visited Galaxy Backbone (GBB)’s North East Regional Office and Safe City Emergency Command Centre, signaling a strengthened partnership between law enforcement and technology. The visit focused on leveraging ICT solutions to enhance security operations and drive regional digital transformation.

CP Yahaya and his team were welcomed by GBB’s North East Regional Coordinator, Mr. Ibrahim Bello, and other GBB representatives. Discussions centered on strategic collaborations to improve security infrastructure, advance digital transformation and develop capacity-building initiatives for the Gombe State Police Command.

A key part of the visit was a tour of the state-of-the-art Safe City Emergency Command Centre. This facility, a crucial component of the National Information and Communications Technology Infrastructure Backbone (NICTIB) project, uses cutting-edge surveillance, real-time monitoring, and integrated emergency response to bolster security across Gombe State and the North East. The Centre’s Unified Communications System, security analytics, and digital emergency response coordination provide law enforcement with real-time intelligence, proactive threat detection, and seamless inter-agency collaboration, leading to more effective public safety management.

Commissioner Yahaya expressed strong interest in utilizing ICT solutions to modernize policing. He emphasized the importance of technology in crime prevention, data-driven policing, and crisis management, highlighting the need for enhanced digital transformation, improved connectivity, and expanded training to equip officers for the digital security landscape.

Galaxy Backbone reiterated its commitment to supporting law enforcement and other stakeholders through innovative ICT solutions, secure cloud infrastructure, and digital training. By offering high-speed connectivity, cybersecurity frameworks, and cloud-powered command centers, GBB facilitates the adoption of smart policing and enhanced security management nationwide.

The visit concluded with a mutual agreement to deepen collaboration between GBB and the Gombe State Police Command. Key areas of focus include optimizing digital transformation for law enforcement, expanding ICT-driven surveillance and emergency response systems, and strengthening officer training in digital skills and operational effectiveness.

As a leading digital infrastructure provider in Nigeria, Galaxy Backbone plays a vital role in shaping the future of public safety, digital governance, and cybersecurity, empowering law enforcement with the tools they need to protect lives and property.
