Mr. Daniel Asapokhai, Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) has disclosed the harmonized Code of Corporate governance, which was suspended last year, will be out in six months.

Asapokhai disclosed this when interacting with Journalists on the sideline of the CFO Forum, organized by KPMG yesterday at the Intercontinental Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.

According to him, the exposure draft of the framework is already being discussed, hoping that within the next six months, the draft document would be out for consideration. “The draft document of the Code of Corporate governance ought to be out within six months because a lot of work is going into the suspended code. We believe that the new document would resolve some of the contested areas,” the FRCN boss, who earlier spoke on the topic, ‘Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria – Strategic Direction and Priority Actions for the Near Term’ said.

The council had last year suspended the National Code of Corporate Governance based on a directive from the Federal Government.

The CFO Forum Breakfast Seminar was organized by KPMG, it is an annual event for Chief Financial Officers, which serves as a forum where they meet and share opinion and concerns on issues affecting their roles as CFOs. It also serves as an avenue where they meet and interact with regulators.
