In a significant move to improve internet access for remote communities, Nigeria’s leading satellite communication provider, NIGCOMSAT Limited, has joined forces with Hotspot, a company known for its expertise in rural connectivity solutions. This partnership aims to revolutionize internet access in underserved areas across the country.

By combining their strengths, NIGCOMSAT and Hotspot will leverage cutting-edge satellite technology and innovative solutions to bridge the digital divide. NIGCOMSAT brings its vast satellite infrastructure to the table, while Hotspot contributes its experience tackling rural connectivity challenges. This collaboration will empower communities to participate in the digital economy, unlocking new social and economic development avenues.

“At NIGCOMSAT, we’re dedicated to using technology to drive digital transformation and improve lives across Nigeria, especially in underserved regions,” said Mrs. Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, Managing Director and CEO of NIGCOMSAT Limited.

She added that the partnership with Hotspot underscores the company’s commitment to connecting the unconnected and ensuring everyone benefits from the digital age.

Meanwhile, Hotspot’s CEO, Eng. Morenikeji Aniye, echoed the enthusiasm, stating, “We’re excited to work with NIGCOMSAT on this initiative. Our mission is to connect millions of people who currently lack internet access. By combining our expertise and resources, we can deliver innovative solutions that bring reliable and affordable internet to rural communities. This will empower them to participate in the digital economy fully and access essential services.”

This partnership was signed on June 27, 2024, and reinforces NIGCOMSAT’s ongoing commitment to expanding its reach and improving connectivity throughout Nigeria and beyond.
