Canon Central and North Africa have joined forces with Rolof Computer Academy to empower Nigerian youth through photography. The partnership will see the implementation of several educational programs, including Canon Academy Juniors, Miraisha, Canon Print Hub and Canon Academy.
The partnership aligns with Canon’s corporate philosophy of Kyosei – living and working together for the common good – these programs aim to foster growth, development, and sustainability within the community.
“We are excited to collaborate with Rolof Computer Academy to provide Nigerian youth with practical photography skills and opportunities. Beyond technical expertise, we aim to cultivate creativity, confidence, and a sense of purpose through the lens,” said Rashad Ghani, B2C Business Unit Director at Canon Central and North Africa.
Ghani emphasized Canon’s commitment to Kyosei, highlighting the company’s dedication to fostering harmony, collaboration, and mutual respect. “By partnering with Rolof, we are furthering our mission to create a positive impact on the world,” he added.
Details of the partnership indicate that from July 23 to September 3, 2024, participants of all ages will benefit from a series of workshops integrated into Rolof Computer Academy’s Summer Program in Warri, Nigeria. Canon-certified trainers will conduct interactive sessions tailored for children aged 8-16 through the Canon Academy Juniors program and young adults aged 18-35 through the Canon Academy and Miraisha programs.

The Canon Academy Juniors program focuses on inspiring a love for photography in children through engaging sessions and creative activities like Canon Creative Park paper crafting. The Canon Miraisha program aims to create job opportunities for young adults by offering photography, videography, and filmmaking workshops. Canon Academy provides a range of online photography courses accessible to learners of all levels.
