Six Nigerian students are making waves on the world stage! Out of over 11,000 applications from 176 countries, Okechukwu Clinton Ifeanyi, Bello Peace Olalekan, Joel Mordi, Jennifer Uchechukwu Obiorah, Roseline Adewuyi, and Karimot Odebode have been named finalists for the Chegg.org Global Student Prize 2024. This annual award recognizes exceptional students who are making a positive impact on learning, their communities, and the world.

    This is their story:

    • Okechukwu Clinton Ifeanyi overcame challenges to excel academically and become a health advocate, founding initiatives to improve access to vision care and healthcare education.
    • Bello Peace Olalekan developed an innovative carbon market solution and champions environmental sustainability.
    • Joel Mordi, a passionate activist, founded a non-profit that empowers over 500,000 students and fights for equality.
    • Jennifer Uchechukwu Obiorah empowers marginalized communities through waste-to-wealth projects and promotes education and environmental responsibility.
    • Roseline Adewuyi advocates for gender equality and empowers girls through education.
    • Karimot Odebode fights for education and gender equality, representing youth voices at the UN and impacting thousands of students.

These finalists join a legacy of Nigerian excellence in the competition. Heather Hatlo Porter, Chegg’s Chief Communications Officer, highlighted the importance of recognizing these young leaders and their potential to create a brighter future.

The top 10 finalists will be announced in September, with the winner chosen by a prestigious academy later this year. The winner will receive a $100,000 prize in recognition of their outstanding achievements.

This story is an inspiring reminder of the power of education and the incredible talent found among Nigerian students.
