The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), has adduced reason it gives the Nigerian Communications Commission‘Approved Employer Professional Development Award.’

Presenting the award  to Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, Executive Vice Chairman of NCC at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja, Thomas Isibor, the Country Head, Association of Chartered Accountants, said the  Award was in recognition of the continuing professional development opportunities provided by NCC to its staff that are members of ACCA.

He added that the Award is given to NCC in recognition of its high standards of staff training and development. “We are recognizing NCC for the investments it makes in human capital development and we are very proud with the partnership that we are forming; it is also the beginning of a relationship and I believe we can take it to great heights”, said Isibor.

Isibor described NCC as an iconic organization and, that ACCA has monitored the Commission’s performance in human development and its effective regulation of the industry over time before considering the Commission for this prestigious Award.  He indicated that ACCA evaluate employers across the globe in terms of staff development and progression and, ACCA has adjudged NCC qualified for the ‘Approved Employer’ Award.

Meanwhile, Danbatta while receiving the award, admitted that the task at the Commission requires diversified competencies and collective approach to attain desired objectives of ensuring qualitative and efficient telecommunications services, as well as universal access to services made available and affordable for all.

The former University Lecturer informed the ACCA team about the Management’s 8-Point Agenda or Strategic Vision Plan envisioning NCC’s direction and objectives and, that strategic collaboration and partnership is one item among the 8-Point Agenda that the Commission accords seriousness.  On Broadband deployment, Prof. Danbatta talked about the licensing of Infracos to provide Broadband services across the country and how that will help address Financial inclusion for Nigerians living in underserved and unserved locations.
