The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the MTN Foundation have announced a collaborative partnership aimed at significantly boosting digital literacy and capacity building across Nigeria. This initiative directly supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reform agenda, which emphasizes sustained and inclusive growth through industrialization.

NITDA Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa, called for the partnership during a meeting with an MTN Foundation delegation led by Odunayo Sanya at NITDA’s headquarters in Abuja. He underscored the critical role of synergy in achieving the nation’s ambitious digital literacy goals.

NITDA’s “Digital Literacy for All” (DL4ALL) initiative targets 95% digital literacy nationwide by 2027, aligning with the agency’s strategic focus on talent cultivation. Inuwa highlighted NITDA’s development of a digital literacy framework based on UNESCO and DigiCom standards, emphasizing a three-phase curriculum for educational institutions that prioritizes practical skills over certifications.

The MTN Foundation, sharing a similar vision, currently offers over 4,000 online courses, with 2,000 young Nigerians already enrolled. Odunayo Sanya praised NITDA’s initiatives and extended an invitation for the agency to unveil its academy platform on April 17th.

Both organizations have committed to forming a joint committee to streamline their collaborative efforts. This partnership is poised to drive substantial progress in digital literacy and capacity building, directly contributing to Nigeria’s national development objectives.
