In a significant move to realize Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of transforming Anambra State into Africa’s Silicon Valley and a Smart Mega City, the state government has unveiled the 1 Million Anambra Digital Tribe (1MADT) initiative. Spearheaded by the Solution Innovation District (SID), this groundbreaking program aims to democratize access to high-quality digital education for over one million Anambra residents and indigenes, completely free of charge.

At the core of 1MADT is the SID Academy, a comprehensive Learning Management System (LMS). This platform enables participants to engage in learning anytime, anywhere, and at their own pace. The initiative offers an inclusive and transformative learning experience with 32 beginner to advanced courses spanning high-demand digital fields. These include artificial intelligence, cloud computing, SEO optimization, web design, data analysis, graphic design, and digital marketing, with flexible training durations ranging from 4 to 12 weeks. Notably, no prior experience or qualifications are required, opening doors for students, job seekers, professionals, and entrepreneurs alike.

The impact of 1MADT extends beyond individual skill development. By equipping Anambra’s workforce with future-ready digital competencies, the initiative is poised to stimulate job creation, foster innovation, drive entrepreneurship, enhance the productivity of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), and position Anambra as an attractive destination for global technology investments. This initiative directly supports Governor Soludo’s broader agenda of achieving economic transformation through digital empowerment and innovation-driven development.

Complementing the online learning platform, SID is also establishing SID Mini Hubs and partner centers across the state. These tech-enabled learning centers, strategically located in schools and communities, will provide access to computers, internet connectivity, projectors, and teleconferencing facilities. This ensures equitable access to essential digital resources, particularly in underserved areas.

Speaking on the transformative potential of the program, Ms. Chinwe Okoli, Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation and Business Incubation, stated: “Mr. Governor pledged to upskill 10,000 individuals annually but has already exceeded that target. With this ambitious new goal of one million, our aim is to eradicate digital illiteracy and empower our people to compete effectively in the global technology landscape. Mr. Governor is also developing a 13.7-hectare site as our own Silicon Valley, alongside investing in the crucial skill sets needed for global competitiveness. This program is for every Ndi Anambra, and it is entirely free for all beneficiaries. We are even offering additional incentives such as laptops and smartphones to recognize and celebrate excellence.”

To ensure the scalability and long-term sustainability of 1MADT, the Anambra State Government is actively seeking partnerships with corporate organizations, development partners, ICT hubs, educational institutions, philanthropists, and other relevant stakeholders. The goal of these collaborations is to expand the reach of digital education and accelerate Anambra’s emergence as a leading digital hub in Africa.

The 1 Million Anambra Digital Tribe represents a powerful movement under the leadership of Governor Soludo and the innovation-focused approach of the Solution Innovation District. Through this initiative, Anambra is not merely preparing for the digital future; it is actively shaping it.
