Fresh data released by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) shows that Spectranet has maintained its top position in the country’s Internet Service Provider (ISP) market with 111,384 active subscribers, closely followed by satellite internet operator Starlink with 98,642 subscribers.
According to the telecom regulator’s figures for the second quarter of 2026, the 118 licensed ISPs collectively recorded 420,989 active internet subscribers, comprising 138,769 wired customers and 282,220 wireless broadband users with 2,893 Points of Presence.
The industry report highlights a continuing evolution in Nigeria’s broadband landscape, where long-standing legacy operators face aggressive competition from satellite providers and emerging market disruptors. Market concentration remains notably high, with the top 10 operators accounting for 340,573 subscribers, representing roughly 80.9 percent of the total market.
While Spectranet continues to hold the primary market share with a 26.5 percent stake driven primarily by its wireless broadband network, Elon Musk’s Starlink is rapidly narrowing the gap. Starlink now claims 23.4 percent of the total active ISP subscriber base, solidifying its number-two status behind Spectranet. FiberOne Broadband retained the third spot with 56,486 active wired subscribers, while new entrants like Fieldbase Services and Intellivision Technologies secured notable spots within the top 10.
