Five ways Rabafast makes cross-border payments easier for businesses

The questions a business asks when it sends money abroad have barely changed in centuries. Will the recipient receive the currency? How long will the money take to arrive, and what will the whole journey cost? Merchants once answered them with couriers, and agents. Today the answers depend on payment networks, liquidity and compliance systems, but the questions themselves remain the same.

For Nigerian businesses paying suppliers abroad, settling invoices in Europe or funding operations in North America, those questions carry real weight. A currency that moves with oil prices, payments that pass through several intermediaries, and documentation requests that arrive days after funds have left all add cost and uncertainty to every international transaction.

Rabafast, a cross-border payments and FX platform registered in Canada as a money services business with FINTRAC and as a payment service provider with the Bank of Canada, is built to answer those questions in one platform. We examined the platform to see how well it does. These are the five features that stood out.

    1. It gives businesses the currencies they need from one account

Currency mismatch is the most basic problem in cross-border trade: the payer holds one currency and the recipient wants another. Rabafast addresses it by giving businesses access to US dollars, Pounds sterling, Euros (including SEPA payments across the eurozone) and Canadian dollars, alongside the USDC and USDT stablecoins, from a single dashboard. Payouts reach more than 200 countries.

Across Africa, Rabafast supports local-currency payouts in Ghanaian cedi, Kenyan shilling, South African rand, and Central and West African CFA francs.

In practice, a finance team that would otherwise maintain several banking relationships to cover its trading partners can manage those corridors in one place, with one onboarding process and one set of records.

    1. It shows the exchange rate and full cost before you pay

Opacity is the most persistent complaint about international payments. A business sends a transfer and only later learns how much intermediary charges and FX spreads have taken from the amount. On the Rabafast platform, the exchange rate and the total cost of a transaction is displayed before the user confirms it. That sounds simple, but it changes how a finance team works.

The cost of a supplier payment can be known and approved in advance, budgeted accurately and reconciled against the invoice without guesswork. For businesses whose margins are sensitive to currency movements, knowing the figure upfront is a meaningful form of control.

    1. It finds another route when one is slow, so payments do not get stuck

Fragmentation is the hidden cause of many delayed payments. Each country has its own clearing systems, and a payment that relies on a single route is exposed when that route slows or fails. Rabafast connects to multiple payment rails and uses what it calls routing intelligence to direct each transaction along an available path to its destination.

If one rail is congested or unavailable, the payment moves through another rather than stalling in transit. The result is fewer payments stuck between sender and beneficiary, with same-day settlement on supported corridors. For an importer waiting on a shipment release, or a supplier waiting on funds before dispatch, that reliability matters more than any headline speed figure.

    1. It checks the paperwork upfront, so payments are not held up in transit

Anyone who has made a large international transfer will recognise the pattern. The money leaves your account, and three days later a request arrives for an invoice, a contract or proof of the source of funds, while the payment sits in transit and the calls and emails begin.

To solve this, Rabafast treats compliance as a native part of the platform rather than a checkpoint further down the chain. Business verification happens at onboarding, and the documentation a transaction requires is gathered when the payment is initiated, not after it has left. Because checks are completed before funds move, payments are far less likely to be held mid-journey, and finance teams are spared the follow-up requests that usually accompany a delayed transfer.

The platform’s regulatory standing in Canada places this process under supervisory oversight, which gives businesses and their counterparties an additional layer of assurance.

    1. It lets businesses track every payment until it arrives

The final question in any cross-border payment is the simplest: has it arrived? Rabafast lets users track the status of each payment from the dashboard as it moves towards the beneficiary, and download confirmations and transaction records once it completes.

Proof of payment can be shared with a supplier immediately, and records are ready for reconciliation and audit without a request to anyone else. It is a small feature in isolation, but for teams processing many payments a month, it removes a considerable amount of administrative friction.

    Is Rabafast Worth It?

Rabafast’s real strength is simplicity. It takes the long chain of intermediaries, messages, checks and settlements behind an international payment and turns it into a few clear steps, all controlled by the business making the payment.

Multi-currency access, upfront pricing, multi-rail routing and front-loaded compliance each address a specific cause of slow and costly international payments, rather than simply putting the old process online.

The platform will suit importers, exporters, e-commerce businesses and companies paying international contractors, as well as larger enterprises moving regular, high-value flows across several countries in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
