Software giant, Microsoft has announced a reentry into the world’s smartphone market with a foldable device it tagged Surface Duo, which is set for launch late next year.
The Surface Duo, according to reports will finally be Microsoft’s winning Smartphone model, having failed to impress the already porous smartphone market with some of its earlier entries. In fact, it famously missed the smartphone revolution to Apple and Google.
The foldable device features two separate 5.6 inch screen on either side of a hinge that allows Microsoft to sidestep the difficulties of making an actual folding screen that bends in the middle. The smarphone will run a customized version of Google’s Android OS, where Microsoft designed the hardware, including an Intel processor, and focused on creating versions of its popular productivity apps for the device.
Microsoft noted that the phone will come out in late 2020 but has not disclosed pricing yet.
