    African ICT Foundation adduces reasons for attending AU’s training workshop

    The African ICT Foundation, an independent, not-for-profit making organization, has given reasons why it attended the just concluded African Union (AU)’s internet governance training workshop that was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

    In a statement in Lagos by its Executive Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Bassey, the foundation said its attendance is in furtherance to the actualisation of the African Union (AU) agenda 2063, which is the Africa’s blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future.

    The statement added that the training workshop was organized in line with the African ICT Foundation’s foremost aim and objective, which is to collaborate with the African Union and other regional bodies, public and private organizations and individuals to facilitate the utilization of ICT to promote the economic, social and environmental well-being of Africans.

    “Our attendance is in line with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” part of the statement reads.

    The statement also quoted the Foundation’s regional Director for West Africa, Dr. Kossi Amessinou, who represented the organization, to have expressed optimism that the workshop which lasted for 5 days and covers strategic Africa’s  ICT developments such as: Digital divide and development was a pointer to the Africa’s liberation from innovative stagnation.

    The training workshop handles topics ranging from the Digital Economy and Internet Governance, Legal and Regulatory Aspects of Internet Governance, Cybersecurity and Critical Information Infrastructure Protection, Internet Infrastructure, Architecture, Standards, and Protocols among other topics 

    The Africa ICT Foundation was among the few dependable non-profit-organisation NGO invited to attend the workshop.
