Nigeria’s TeleHouse, Medallion Communications Limited, last week in Accra-Ghana won the Best Data Centre Provider of the Year at the 4th Africa Information Technology & Telecom Awards.

Reciting Medallion’s profile, the organizer of the award, InstintWave noted that Medallion has democratized Data Centre operations in Nigeria and indeed Africa. Thus, it deserved the ‘Best Data Centre Provider of the Year’ award.

“After a thorough research by the Committee in charge of selection of recipients of this year’s award, it was concluded that Medallion with over 83 service providers connected to its Data Centre is the Best Data Centre Provider of the Year 2019,” said Mr Akin Naphtal,  CEO of Instinctwave.

He disclosed that the fact that Medallion is the most interconnected Data Centre facilities in the West Africa sub-region and most likely the African continent is a factor that was largely considered.

Receiving the award on behalf of Medallion Communications Limited, an elated Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. Ikechukwu Nnamani said the award is a display of the Medallion’s resilience in building telecom infrastructure that is currently accommodating the hosting of contents from both local and international service providers in Nigeria.

He also disclosed that the Medallion Data Center, which is carrier neutral currently provides hosting services to over 83 local and international service providers that are operating in Nigeria. This is a feat, Nnamani noted endeared Medallion to receiving the award.

“We are happy to have received this award. It goes to show we are impacting the industry in a positive way. The award will also strengthen us to do more, so that all citizens can have the impact of telecom services,” he assured

Medallion is presently strengthening its market footings by expanding Data Centre services across Nigeria and selected West African nations. In addition to its facilities in Lagos and Abuja, Medallion is creating new facilities in Asaba, Enugu, Port-Harcourt, Kano and Ibadan in its next expansion phase. This is in a bid to address some of the data hosting challenges in the industry.
