Andela, a global leader in sourcing remote tech talent, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a week-long series of events held across nine countries. From May 17th to 25th, Andela hosted key stakeholders in the US, UK, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Rwanda, Egypt, Brazil, and Pakistan, attracting over 550 attendees.

The events served as a platform to showcase Andela’s impressive achievements over the past decade. Here are seven key milestones highlighted during the celebrations:

    1. Building a Tech Talent Powerhouse: Andela has fostered one of the world’s largest tech communities, boasting over 5 million members.
    2. Exceptional Talent, Satisfied Clients: Andela boasts a remarkable 98% client satisfaction rate, a testament to the high quality of their talent pool.
    3. Surpassing Goals, Building Futures: Andela has trained a staggering 110,000 tech professionals, exceeding their ambitious 10-year goal of 100,000.
    4. Shaping Africa’s Tech Landscape: An incredible 15% of Africa’s estimated 716,000 engineers honed their skills through Andela’s programs.
    5. Pan-African Reach: Andela’s talent marketplace spans an impressive 49 countries across Africa.
    6. Exponential Growth: Andela’s talent pool in Africa has witnessed phenomenal growth, averaging a staggering 179% increase annually over the past decade.
    7. Nurturing Regional Talent: Since 2020, Andela has seen a surge in skilled tech talent from key African countries: Nigeria (791% growth), Kenya (451% growth), and Ghana (a remarkable 955% growth).

The events featured Andela’s visionary founders: Jeremy Johnson, Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, Nadayar Enegesi, Brice Nkengsa, Ian Carnevale, and Christina Sass. Former and current employees, talent, investors, clients, and industry leaders also participated, underlining Andela’s lasting impact on Africa’s tech scene and its expanding global influence.

Driven by the belief that “brilliance is equally distributed, but opportunity is not,” Andela has connected exceptional tech talent from underserved regions like Africa and Latin America with companies seeking top-tier skills. After pioneering a successful remote-first model in Ghana and Egypt, Andela fully embraced this approach in 2020, transforming into a global, remote-first marketplace encompassing over 135 countries.

Andela enjoys the backing of prominent investors like Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Softbank, Google Ventures, Serena Ventures, and Generation Investment Management. They hold the distinction of being the first talent marketplace to achieve unicorn status (a valuation exceeding $1 billion) and one of only seven such companies founded in Africa.
