One of Africa’s leading ICT broadcaster, Dr Bayero Agabi has described Engr. Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi, Founder of Africa Independent Television (AIT) and Raypower FM as a serial innovator, whose impact is still being felt positively in both the media and the technology ecosystem.

Speaking to journalists at the lecture to honor DOKPESI at 70,  Bayero said it’s not news that Raymond Dokpesi parted the way to digital and 24hors broadcasting in Nigerian, but it’s also important to note his role in the Nigerian Information and Communications Technology sector.

He said, for instance Dokpesi was a pioneer member of the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), where he was a major Internet Service Provider leveraging his company called DaarNet.

According to him, DOKPESI is a disruptor, an innovator and a pride of Africa.

“Dokpesi started and encouraged the first ICT and tech show in Nigeria, a programme that has long become Africa’s leading tech show with well over 100 awards and the only one to have won the prestigious UNECA award twice for balanced report and research.

“Infact writing the history of broadcasting, media and tech in Nigerian will not be complete without Raymond Dokpesi name mentioned,” Dr. Bayero said at the lecture themed ‘Technology a missing link to Africa’s development.’

Engr. Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi is fellow of the Nigeria Society of Engineers and also played a role at the last national conference, especially on the tech committee. The event was attended and chaired by the former Vice President of Nigeria Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, Senators from National Assembly and dignitaries from both the public and private sectors of the Nigerian economy.
