    Empowering Women in Tech: Vbank, The Nest and Women in Tech Nigeria Celebrate Resounding Success

    In a remarkable display of resilience and untapped potential, a rising generation of young women in Nigeria is boldly taking centre stage in the global tech industry. The digital age and the transformative power of the Internet have opened the doors to new opportunities, with the Vbank Women in Tech program leading the charge in nurturing these prospects for women.

    The Nest, in collaboration with Women in Tech Nigeria, facilitated by the generous sponsorship of Vbank, is delighted to announce the successful conclusion of the Women in Tech program. This program which empowered women in Nigeria to embrace technology by providing training in various tech-related fields, witnessed the graduation of a ground-breaking 1,500 women on Friday, September 22, 2023.

    The Women in Tech program, spearheaded by WIT Nigeria, is an integral part of the global Women in Tech organization’s mission to empower women worldwide to excel in the tech industry. Vbank, a leading microfinance bank in Nigeria, played a pivotal role in sponsoring this initiative, further underscoring its commitment to supporting women in technology.

    The comprehensive program offered courses in Data Analytics, Product Management, Product Design, and Digital Marketing. Participants were immersed in a transformative learning experience, gaining valuable skills in these key areas over 10 weeks. Solape Akinpelu, Country Director of Women in Tech Nigeria, expressed her excitement saying, “The Women in Tech program has been a remarkable journey for all of us. We’ve witnessed incredible growth and determination among the participants, and we’re proud to see them equipped with the skills they need to thrive in the tech industry.”

    Gbenga Omolokun, the Managing Director of Vbank, added, “Vbank is committed to supporting initiatives that promote diversity and inclusivity in technology, which is a part of our key focus areas in the bank. We are ecstatic to have been part of this remarkable journey and eagerly anticipate the far-reaching impact these exceptionally talented women will make.”

    Ayumi Moore, the Global Founder of Women in Tech, commended the dedication of all involved parties, stating, “It’s inspiring to see the tech community come together to empower women in such a meaningful way. The success of this program is a testament to what we can achieve when we collaborate.”

    Peter Ogedengbe and Joba Oloba, Co-founders of The Nest, expressed their pride in being the training partner for this program through their Girl Code Academy initiative. Peter Ogedengbe stated, “At The Nest, we believe in the transformative power of tech. This partnership signifies a shared commitment to breaking down barriers and promoting inclusivity within the tech world. The goal is to create an ecosystem that accelerates growth, encourages collaboration, and shapes the future of tech and business in Africa.”

    The incredible facilitators for the program, who played a crucial role in delivering high-quality training, included:

    • Data Analytics: Akinyemi Shuaib
    • Product Management: Ireoluwa Omojola
    • Digital Marketing: Ayooluwa Haastrup
    • UI/UX Design: Oluwatimilehin (Oluwasegun) Oyedele

    The Women in Tech program has not only equipped participants with valuable skills but has also created a strong community of women in technology who will continue to support each other’s growth in the industry.
