Equinix has significantly bolstered Nigeria’s digital infrastructure with the official opening of its new LG2.3 data center in Lagos. This expansion underscores Equinix’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s digital economy by providing cutting-edge colocation and interconnection solutions. The facility, designed to support the nation’s accelerating digital transformation, will empower businesses across the region.

The inauguration event, led by Equinix’s EMEA President Bruce Owen, featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a meeting with the Lagos State Governor, and a customer engagement event. These events emphasized Equinix’s dedication to fostering partnerships and driving innovation within Nigeria’s technology sector. Discussions centered on the role of Equinix’s infrastructure in enabling business agility and digital advancement.

Further demonstrating its commitment to sustainable development, Equinix held a tree-planting ceremony, highlighting its global efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and promote environmentally responsible practices.

“Nigeria is a crucial market for Equinix. The launch of LG2.3 reflects our ongoing investment in digital infrastructure to benefit businesses across Nigeria and the broader continent. We are excited by the innovation and partnerships emerging from this region, which fuel our commitment to a sustainable digital future,” stated Bruce Owen. “

Wole Abu, Managing Director of Equinix West Africa, emphasized the critical role of data centers in Nigeria’s economic growth. “Data centers are fundamental to driving digital transformation and economic development. As demand for data solutions grows, Equinix is expanding its presence in Nigeria with three major data center projects and planning further expansions into Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and South Africa.”

Equinix’s LG2.3 data center signifies a major step in the company’s mission to enable secure, scalable, and sustainable digital growth, reinforcing its position as a key player in Nigeria’s evolving digital landscape.
