Google launches Gemini 3 to make AI truly helpful for everyone

Google has announced the launch of Gemini 3, its most intelligent and capable AI model yet, marking a significant stride in the mission to make AI genuinely helpful for everyone.

Designed to bring state-of-the-art reasoning and powerful new agentic capabilities to the Google products people use every day, Gemini 3 signals a new chapter in intelligence, agents, and personalization.

The helpfulness of Gemini 3 starts with the model itself. Gemini 3 Pro, the first model in the new family, is built to grasp depth and nuance like never before, demonstrating capabilities like PhD-level reasoning for complex problem-solving, which sets new performance records on major AI benchmarks, and multimodal understanding, excelling at interpreting complex inputs, including video, images, and even handwritten text.

This leap in core intelligence allows Gemini 3 to act as a true thought partner, providing responses that are smart, direct, and focused on genuine insight rather than cliché.

Gemini 3’s intelligence is immediately rolling out to enhance the products people use daily, transforming Google Search from a simple information tool into an interactive learning companion. This is achieved through the AI Mode in Search, where, for the first time, a new Gemini model is available from day one; in this mode, Gemini 3 dynamically creates the ideal visual layout for a query, generating interactive tools and simulations on the fly. For example, a student studying physics can now interact with a simulation of the three-body problem instead of just reading about it, and a person researching a mortgage can receive a custom-built loan calculator to compare options in real-time.

This interactive approach directly supports the surging public interest in using AI for learning, a trend highlighted by the over 200% surge in Google Search interest for “AI and studying” in Nigeria.

The evolution continues with a powerful new agent in the Gemini app, transforming it into a personal assistant that can take action on your behalf. For Google AI Ultra subscribers, this experimental Gemini Agent specializes in orchestrating and completing complex, multi-step tasks across connected Google apps, thus boosting automated productivity. For example, a user can ask it to “organize my inbox,” and it will autonomously prioritize to-dos and draft replies; similarly, a request like, “Help me book a mid-size SUV for my trip,” triggers the agent to find flight details from an email, compare rental options, and prepare the booking, all while keeping the user in control.

These agentic capabilities streamline daily chores and complex logistics, truly making AI helpful by getting things done with less prompting.

To ensure this helpfulness can be extended by creators, Google is also launching Google Antigravity, a new agentic development platform. This platform transforms AI from a simple coding assistant into an active partner that can autonomously plan and execute complex software tasks, from building features to fixing bugs. This approach allows developers to operate at a higher, more strategic level, accelerating the creation of new helpful experiences.

Gemini 3 Pro is available starting today in the Gemini app and can be accessed by Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in AI Mode in Search.
