Jane Egerton-Idehen, Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT), has been named the new Vice Chair of the Global Satellite Operators Association (GSOA). This significant appointment was announced by Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovations and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, via a LinkedIn post.

Dr. Tijani highlighted the importance of this role, stating it not only recognizes Egerton-Idehen’s leadership but also cements Nigeria’s place at the table of global decision-making in the satellite and space ecosystem.

According to the Minister, this milestone reflects Nigeria’s progress in strengthening its digital economy and fostering inclusive connectivity. He added that Egerton-Idehen’s new position will help accelerate Nigeria’s mission to bridge the connectivity gap and unlock new opportunities for innovation across the African continent.

The GSOA is a global organization that represents the interests of the satellite industry. Its members include major satellite operators who provide essential services such as broadband internet, broadcasting, and mobile communications worldwide. As Vice Chair, Egerton-Idehen will help shape the future of global satellite operations and ensure Africa’s interests are represented in key discussions.

This appointment marks a major step forward for Nigcomsat and Nigeria’s role in the international satellite community.
