The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has established a new premier system for recognizing excellence in the communication industry with the launch of the annual Public Relations, Reputation, Ideas, Concepts and Excellence (PRICE) Awards and Prizes.

In a statement issued and signed by Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan, Vice Chairman, National Planning Committee, NIPR Annual PRICE Awards and Prizes 2025, the new awards will serve as the body’s official platform for the curation, recognition, exhibition, and celebration of outstanding public relations campaigns and accomplishments across Nigeria.

the statement disclosed that the maiden edition of the prestigious event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Abuja Continental Hotel.

The development of the PRICE Awards reached a peak in September 2025, when NIPR President and Chairman of Council, Dr. Ike Neliaku, inaugurated the Organising Committee.

While inaugurating the 12-member committee, Dr. Neliaku emphasized the goal to create an awards system of global stature.

“We are challenging you to come and give Nigeria something similar in terms of prestige, class and colour. Now, we are asking you to give Nigeria her own world-class Public Relations awards system,” he charged the committee.

The NIPR President expressed confidence that the PRICE Awards will not only motivate professionals, practitioners, and scholars but will also enhance Nigeria’s global competitiveness within the public relations ecosystem.

Israel Jaiye Opayemi, a Fellow of the Institute and Managing Director/Chief Strategist of Chain Reactions Africa, heads the Organising Committee. Accepting the responsibility, Opayemi reiterated the committee’s determination to deliver a best-in-class ceremony.

He noted that the PRICE Awards will finally allow Nigeria’s “proverbial prophets to be honoured at home,” following years of Nigerian practitioners winning major accolades on the global stage.

The awards will recognize outstanding work across the entire spectrum of public relations and communications, celebrating the primacy of strategy, creativity, innovation, and impact. Crucially, the scheme will also honor emerging public relations talents, such as students and young professionals, with cash prizes and plaques to underscore NIPR’s commitment to cultivating excellence.

The NIPR, established in 1963 and chartered in 1990, is authorized by law to register practitioners, set standards, and regulate the practice of public relations in Nigeria. The Institute recently secured the bid to host both the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) 2026 and the African Public Relations Association (APRA) Annual Conference concurrently in November 2026.
