The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of S Mobile Group, Mr. Kingsley Adonu, has been appointed as patron by the executive council, Students Union Government (SUG), University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN).

In a letter dated March 29, 2024, signed by Comrade Enoch Utazi, the President, SUG of UNN, the students said Adonu’s appointment was in the interest of the student union government following his antecedents in youth and student constituency both within the University of Nigeria Nsukka and outside the institution.

Kingsley Adonu is a visionary entrepreneur and the Founder of the SMobile Group, a conglomerate synonymous with excellence and diversity.

As the Chief Executive Officer, he has steered the group to remarkable heights, overseeing a spectrum of businesses that span across Telecommunications, Oil and Gas, Real Estate, Hospitality, Water Production, Agriculture, Technology, E-commerce, and Energy, with branches extending globally in the UK, USA, China, South Africa, and Canada.

Under Kingsley’s astute leadership, SMobile Group has emerged as a major partner for MTN, as evidenced by the impactful presence of the SMobile brand in the telecommunications landscape.

His strategic insights and forward-thinking approaches have positioned the group as a dynamic player in multiple industries. Beyond the boardroom, Kingsley Adonu is a dedicated philanthropist, committed to making a positive impact in communities.

His philanthropic efforts extend beyond business, reflecting a deep-seated belief in the responsibility of successful individuals to contribute meaningfully to society.

Kingsley’s influence is not confined to national borders; he has actively participated in numerous international telecom conferences, further enriching his understanding of global industry trends and fostering valuable connections with industry leaders worldwide.

With an unwavering commitment to excellence, Kingsley Adonu continues to inspire and lead the SMobile Group towards new horizons, blending business acumen with a passion for positive societal change.

“It is out of nostalgia and heart full of gratitude that we unanimously appoint you (Kingsley Adonu) as the Patron of the Students Union Government…”, Utazi said. “We believe that this appointment would open more doors for the UNN Students”.

In his acceptance letter, Adonu thanked the student body for the honour and pledged continued support to the SUG and youth in the community.

“I am delighted by this honour you have done me by making me your patron. Truly, the youth is the beacon of hope of the society and that is the reason I leverage every opportunity I have to champion the course for the digital skills development of our young ones.

“Today, there is no course of study in school that does not have an element of technology influencing it. For this reason, S Mobile Tech Hub was instituted to reequip our youth with hands-on skills needed in today’s workplace and entrepreneurship. Very soon, you will see the hub established in Nsukka area as a complement to the university’s management effort to equip our youth for today and tomorrow’s success”.

“Also, our youth must avoid any form of social vices because only the living can utilize opportunities in their domain to better their worth. Again, remember that society is waiting to celebrate your innovation”, the UNN SUG’s Patron told the students.
