    Why we awarded Danbatta ‘Telecom Man Of The Year 2017’

    The organizers of this year’s Nigeria Tech Innovation and Telecom Awards, have given reasons why it awarded  the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta as the ‘Telecom Man Of The Year 2017’.

    The award was powered by Instinct Wave  and supported by the Association of Telecom Companies of Nigeria (ATCON).

    According to Akin Naphtal, the Chief Executive Officer of Instinct Wave, Prof Umar Danbatta has distinguished himself as one of the best chief telecom regulator since he was appointed to oversee the affairs of the country’s regulatory body in 2015.

    “Professor Umar Danbatta has done so much by putting the telecom industry into the world map. We felt we should recognize that effort by awarding him the ‘Telecom Man Of The Year 2017’,” said Akin on behalf of ATCON, the umbrella body of all telecom companies in Nigeria.

    Apart from the NCC boss, who received the ‘Telecom Man Of The Year 2017’, the Nigerian Communications Commission, as a corporate body also received the “Consumer Initiative Project of the Year Award” and the “Regulator of the Year Award”.

    The Nigeria Tech Innovation & Telecom Awards is touted as the most highly prized accolades in the Nigeria’s telecom industry. The award recognizes and rewards organizations and individuals at the forefront of innovation in the ever growing Nigeria technology and telecom industry.
