Medallion Communications Limited has denied media reports purportedly quoting it to have blasted the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for erroneously suspending its interconnect license.
The Chief Executive Officer of Medallion, Mr. Ikechukwu Nnamani in a statement in Lagos, said the report published in Technology Times misquoted him, emphasizing that what he said is that it was unfortunate that the incident happened and was happy to announce that the suspension has been lifted by the Commission.
“There was never a time myself or any representative of Medallion told any journalist that the NCC did not get its facts right before imposing the 90-days suspension on our interconnect license. We only joyfully announced that the suspension on Medallion has been lifted and that process to respond to any penalty imposed by the Regulator was followed by Medallion and the Regulator approved our request for review.
“As a company, we are not interested in sensational or confrontational journalism and we will not allow our company to be used to discredit or embarrass the NCC,” the statement said.
He indicated that Medallion has contacted the publishers of the offensive report for retraction or rejoinder correcting the error.
