    We have provided Consumer redress mechanisms, NCC says at Sokoto Consumer Outreach Programme

    The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC, today said it has provided Consumer redress mechanisms to help address some of the challenges faced by the consumer, believing such mechanisem will empower the consumer.

    The telecom regulator stated this at the 97th Edition of Consumer Outreach Programme in Sokoto State at the Sultan Muhammadu Maccido Institute for Quran and General Studies on Al-Sudai’s road situated in the heart of Sokoto.

    The mechanism according to NCC are; the Do not Disturb 2442 Code to stop unsolicited SMS or send help to 2442 to choose your preferred SMS and the NCC Toll Free Line (622) provided by the NCC to enable Consumers escalate unresolved issues they may have reported to their service operators which may not have been resolved to their satisfaction.

    Ismail Adedigba, Deputy Director Consumer Affairs Bureau, NCC in his welcome address recalled the Consumer Bill of Rights, the Basic Rights of Consumer to guide Consumers understand their rights as Stakeholders in the Telecom Industry.

    The Consumer Outreach Programme is aimed at educating and empowering Consumers of telecom Services so as to make informed choices regarding services provided by network Operators; obtain feedback from a ray of stakeholders in order to improve regulatory excellence and operational efficiency in the industry.
