The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has officially accredited 16 technology companies to serve as providers for its new e-invoicing platform. This announcement comes as the FIRS initiative, aimed at modernizing tax administration, officially began on August 1st.

The list of approved service providers was unveiled by Mike Adoga, the FIRS’ Acting Director of Tax Automation. These companies, which have been certified by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), have been vetted to ensure they possess the necessary infrastructure and capacity to facilitate taxpayer onboarding. Adoga stated that more companies will be added to the list as they receive certification.

These companies, which include Remita Payment Limited, Etranzact International Plc, and Cryptware System Limited, have been accredited as either System Integrators or Access Point Providers. Adoga emphasized that all 16 companies met the FIRS’ stringent requirements for security, transparency, cross-sector performance, and the capacity to provide nationwide service.

Taxpayers now have the freedom to choose any of the approved providers to assist them with the e-invoicing process. The FIRS also confirmed that taxpayers can switch providers if they are unsatisfied with the service and are encouraged to report any breaches or issues. Adoga stressed that the FIRS would swiftly delist any service provider found to violate the set regulations.

“The list will continuously be updated. If at any point we find that any one of these service providers is in breach of any of the conditions of service, they will be removed,” he said.

The FIRS’ electronic invoicing solution, also known as the Merchant-Buyer Solution (MBS), is designed to simplify tax compliance. While onboarding commenced on August 1st, large taxpayers—those with an annual turnover of N5 billion or more—have been given until November 1, 2025, to complete the process.
