    Nigerian Senate honours DigiVation Network

    Nigeria’s highest law making body the Green Chambers otherwise known as the Senate has honoured Africa’s foremost specialized ICT Media outfit DigiVation Network with The Best ICT Media organisation 2020.  The award which was organised by the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime in partnership with Impart Africa – a Non Governmental Organisation with focus on good governance in Africa was presented to the President of the organisation Dr Bayero Agabi at an investiture ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of the Merit House Complex of the National Merit Award Maitama Abuja.

    According to the Chairman of the awards organizing Committee Ayoh Edun who doubles as the Clerk of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime, the award was sequel to the mandate of the Committee to promote and encourage among stakeholders activities that stimulate rapid development in digital technologies and cybersecurity in Nigeria. The statement further added: ”your selection is in recognition of the immense contributions and professionalism recorded by your organization so far in using your media platform to promote massive ICT and cybersecurity awareness, enlightenment, training and education thereby contributing to the growth and safeguarding the interest and development of Nigeria’s digital ecosystem”. He added that the award was to appreciate such positive impact to the society and to further encourage DigiVation Network to continue to support institutions, innovations and efforts towards the growth of Nigeria’s ICT and Cyber domains.

    In his remarks of commendation to the awardees, the Chairman of the 9th Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, Distinguished Senator Yakubu Oseni, praised the immeasurable role of the media in fostering the growth of the sub sector. He reinstated the Senate’s readiness to provide the needed legislative framework to help drive policies that will fast track and deepen digital economy gains in Nigeria and help the nation leapfrog development and inclusiveness of the greater majority of the citizenry in government programmes and plans. “ I like to congratulate you all the respective winners at the occasion, we believe that a recognition like this will further spur you to be more committed to the service of our dear nation and the betterment of our people in general” he emphasized.

    In his reaction, Bayero Agabi expressed his delight noting that aside the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) award to the organization previously, the Senate award was the most endearing to the organization especially that it was coming from the people’s elected representatives. “Am particularly delighted to receive this honour and it means so much to us as an organization for which we shall further challenge ourselves to do more within our media space” he said enthusiastically. 

    Amongst other individuals, organizations, institutions and governments that were also honoured are: Lagos State government, Kogi State government, The First Lady of Bauchi State for her capacity building initiative and youth empowerment in the area of digital skills as well as Retired Air Vice Marshall Victor Udoh a former Chief of Defence Space Agency.

    The honouree, DigiVation Network is Africa’s leading ICT media innovation platform which pioneered IT media broadcast in the continent and has been in the forefront to local content production and promotion for over two decades. 

    DigiVation Network  operates the first-ever converged media platform that serves as a unifying platform between the media and entertainment as well as technology industries. With over 65 international awards, Digivation seek to create a platform for merging interests in both the media, entertainment and tech innovation using ICT.
