The Nigerian National Security Adviser (NSA), Babagana Monguno has hailed the Cyber Security Experts Association of Nigeria (CSEAN) for its consistent efforts in creating awareness about cybersecurity as well as contributions to national cybersecurity programmes.

The NSA, who gave the keynote address at the Cyber Secure Nigeria Conference, which was organized by CSEAN in Lagos last week, noted that the Cyber Secure Nigeria Conference 2021 is timely because it came at a time when the Federal Government is galvanizing efforts to create awareness on the implementation of the National Cybersecurity Policy and Strategy 2021, which coincidentally falls in October – the Cybersecurity Month.

“For us at the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Theme of Cyber Secure Nigeria Conference 2021, which is the Future of Cybersecurity in Nigeria’s Digital Transformation is apt, especially when Nigeria as well as other countries of the world have embraced the new digital innovation and technology.  I would like to appreciate CSEAN for its efforts as well as contributions to national cybersecurity programmes,” said Monguno, a retired Nigerian military general.

Monguno, who was represented at the conference by Brig Gen. Samad Akesode, Director of Communications at the Office of the National Security Adviser, also employed CSEAN to sustain the tempo and continue to do more in areas of advocacy, capacity building and development of homegrown solutions.

While encouraging stakeholders to cooperate, collaborate, synergy and share information to enhance capacity for a more secured cyberspace, the NSA assured it will continue to give CSEAN the necessary support.to push for a safe Cybersecurity Ecosystem in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, as part of its mandates to coordinate the efforts of all stakeholders across the various sectors of the Nigerian economy towards the effective implementation of the action plans outlined in National Cybersecurity Policy and Strategy 2021, the ONSA is organising sensitisation workshops across 7 sectors of the Nigerian economy.

The workshops are crucial in the development of Cybersecurity knowledge gap, skills and expertise to boost efficiency as well as capacity in cybersecurity. Cyber Security Experts Association of Nigeria (CSEAN) is one of the lead organizations for the coordination of the Workshop for the Professional Bodies and Private Sector.
