The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has introduced a 50% discount on CNG conversions for rideshare drivers as part of its Presidential Compressed Natural Gas (Pi-CNG) Initiative.
In a statement to announce the incentive, NASENI explained that the program aims to reduce transportation costs and promote cleaner energy.
The incentive was unveiled at the launch of the MY-CNG app, a platform designed to facilitate the conversion process, held at NASENI’s CNG facility and was attended by government officials and industry stakeholders.
Speaking at the launch, NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, emphasized the program’s alignment with the government’s efforts to address the rising cost of living and promote sustainable energy solutions.
“The initiative is expected to benefit thousands of rideshare drivers and contribute to Nigeria’s gas revolution,” he said.
The Conversion Incentive Program, aimed at the rideshare sector, including Uber and Bolt drivers, offers a 50 percent discount to drivers who sign up and use the newly launched MY-CNG App.
“CNG is a cleaner, more affordable vehicle fuel, with the potential to reduce transportation costs by up to 70 percent and deliver 40 percent savings for car owners,” the EVC/CEO explained.
Halilu also highlighted the importance of collaboration in achieving these milestones, commending partners Pi-CNG, Portland, and Dana Motors for their dedication. “Working together, we can and will transform Nigeria’s energy and transportation sectors,” he added.
