Marking a milestone 35th anniversary, the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has received a major endorsement from the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) for its ambitious shift toward Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Kashifu Inuwa, Director General of NITDA, lauded the Commission’s resilience and growth during a goodwill message at the Abuja Continental Hotel, where he highlighted that while many organizations plateau, the CAC has maintained a steady upward trajectory by prioritizing digital innovation.

Inuwa emphasized that basic digitization is no longer enough to meet modern demands. “To stay competitive and secure, the integration of AI is essential,” he asserted.

The partnership between NITDA and CAC aims to simplify processes by streamlining company registration and business management for Nigerians. It seeks to enhance speed by building on the CAC’s achievement of reducing registration timelines from several months to just 24 hours. The collaboration will also deliver intelligent automation to improve name searches, reservations, and automated filings. Finally, it intends to provide robust cybersecurity by utilizing AI to preemptively identify fraudsters and prevent the unauthorized alteration of company records.

NITDA’s role extends beyond mere encouragement; the agency is actively reviewing the CAC’s digital roadmaps to ensure the technology is deployed safely.

“At NITDA, we will make sure you deploy ethical and responsible AI in your operations, with the right guardrails in place,” Inuwa assured.

The collaboration focuses on providing the standards, training, and safeguards necessary to maintain a secure, people-centered digital service. By embedding intelligence into every workflow, the CAC aims to further improve corporate governance and solidify Nigeria’s position as a digital-forward business hub.

Inuwa concluded by congratulating the CAC management and staff, reaffirming NITDA’s commitment to providing the technical expertise needed to make this AI-driven vision a reality.
