    Titans of Tech to honour Engr. Florence Seriki

    The 2019 edition of Titans of Tech Award, which will hold in Lagos on Friday, July 19, 2019 have line up a special programme to honour the dynamic Engr. Florence Seriki with a posthumous award for her unparalleled contribution to the growth of ICT industry in Nigeria.

    Don Pedro Aganbi, Managing Consultant, Technology Africa, who revealed this to newsmen in Lagos, weekend said that it is important to celebrate Engr. Seriki, especially now that she has passed on, so as to remember her great work in building the first made in Nigeria computer, establishing high tech factories and promoting girls in ICT.

    According to Aganbi, “Engr. Florence Seriki is an icon of ICT in Nigeria, her ideas literally revolutionized the Nigerian ICT space through enabling technology transfer, creating massive supply and support ecosystem and generating jobs all across the West African coast.

    He revealed that Technology Africa, the organizer of the Titans of Tech Awards, will Institute an award in her honour. The award, according him, will be conferred annually to young and upcoming Women and girls in ICT either in business, or the academia.

    Until her death in 2017, Seriki served as Chief Executive Officer and Group Managing Director of Omatek Ventures.  Omatek was one of Nigeria’s pioneer and indigenous Original Equipment Manufacturers in Africa.

    Engr. Seriki was a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers, Nigerian Computers Society and the Institute of Directors. She held a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University).

    Engr (Dr.) Florence Omatule Seriki MFR, was indeed a renowned and accomplished Information and Communications Technology products and solutions consultant and industrialist of repute, a patriotic proponent of local content in manifold strata of the global computer assembly industry, a true amazon and an indispensable colossus in the scheme of African ICT growth and development.

    In her life time she was celebrated in many quarters consequent upon her superlative achievements as Africa’s patriotic amazon.

    The Titans of Tech Awards scheduled to hold at Oriental Hotels Victoria Island shall be preceded by the Tech Africa Leadership Roundtable with the theme; “Local Content in ICT, Cyber security, Big Data & Infrastructure Protection – Catalyst for Economic Growth And National Development”.
