    NITRA elects new Exco, as Chike emerges chairman

    The Nigeria Information Technology Reporters’ Association (NITRA), last week in Lagos elected new members into its executive committee that will champion the affairs of the association in the next three years.

    The new executive consists of Mr. Chike Onwuegbuchi as Chairman, while  Mr. Chidiebere Nwankwo is the Secretary.  Other members of the executive include Bukola Olarenwaju, Assistant Secretary; Mr. Justus Adejumoh as Financial Secretary  and Mrs. Chioma Obiora-Ezike as treasurer.

    Giving an acceptance speech on behalf of the new executives, the Chairman, Mr. Chike Onwuegbuchi noted that the task ahead is to build upon the achievements of the previous administration, which was headed by Emma Okonji.

    “As contained in our manifesto, our mandate is to build on the successes of the last executive, expand the horizon of NITRA and above all better the welfare of our members, which cut across television, newspapers, magazines, radio and online reporting,” he promised.

    Chike added that the umbrella body of all Information and Communications Technology reporters in Nigeria is poised to use its position to pursue and strenghthen policies that will rejuvenate Nigeria’s ICT industry, especially the Digital Economy quest of the federal government.

    Speaking further, Chike disclosed that NITRA is ready to partner with other stakeholders in the industry in order to move the telecom industry, touted as one of the highest contributors to the Nigeria’s economy.  “Our agenda is to help fasten industry growth through collaboration with industry stakeholders both in the public and private sectors,” he assured.
