A significant majority of cybersecurity professionals in Africa region view “Cyber Immunity” as a highly promising strategy to effectively curb the capabilities of cybercriminals targeting networks and systems. This is according to the latest research unveiled by Kaspersky. The findings underscore a growing preference for developing inherently secure systems rather than solely relying on add-on cybersecurity solutions.

The study, commissioned by Kaspersky, surveyed cybersecurity experts across the continent to understand evolving cybersecurity preparedness and emerging trends shaping the future of IT security.

A key focus of Kaspersky’s research was the familiarity and perceived effectiveness of “Cyber Immunity.” Defined by Kaspersky as a development methodology and architectural approach for IT and Operational Technology (OT) systems that ensure security by design and inherent resilience against cyberattacks, thereby minimizing reliance on external cybersecurity tools, the concept resonates strongly in Africa.

Responding to this increasing demand, Kaspersky announced the expansion of its operating system, KasperskyOS, from a niche embedded platform to a versatile, general-purpose foundation. Initially conceived for building cyber-immune solutions in highly sensitive industries, KasperskyOS is now recognized for its broader applicability across all sectors utilizing modern IT systems.

Beyond addressing cybersecurity weaknesses, KasperskyOS aims to bolster overall infrastructure resilience. By empowering customers to build solutions directly on a secure platform, Kaspersky offers a progressive step in cybersecurity, moving beyond simply patching vulnerabilities after exploitation and relying less on external mitigation tools.

Dmitry Lukiyan, Head of the KasperskyOS Business Unit, stated at GITEX 2025, “We’re excited to share these insights with global IT leaders. The findings confirm a shift we have long anticipated: organisations are moving beyond reactive tools and demanding systems that are secure by design. With our Cyber Immunity approach, we offer the next step—not just detecting threats, but structurally preventing them. With the expansion of KasperskyOS to a general-purpose secure platform, we are helping customers build resilient digital environments that are easier to manage, safer to operate, and ready for tomorrow’s challenges.”
