The Solution Innovation District (SID) has made significant strides in its mission to position Anambra State as a global innovation hub. The district has been officially inducted into the prestigious International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) at the 41st World Conference held in Nairobi, Kenya.

This recognition aligns perfectly with Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of transforming Anambra into “Africa’s Silicon Valley.” By joining IASP, SID gains access to a vast network of over 400 member organizations from 76 countries, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange on a global scale.

The 41st IASP World Conference, themed “Demographics, Entrepreneurship, and Technology: Defining the Frontiers of Future Economies,” brought together a diverse group of innovation leaders, scientists, policymakers, and entrepreneurs. This global platform highlighted the importance of innovation in driving economic growth and addressing societal challenges.

Chinwe Okoli, the Special Adviser to Anambra State Governor on Innovation and Business Incubation/CEO of Solution Innovation District, receiving the IASP induction (award) plaque.

SID’s induction into IASP will enable Anambra to:

    • Attract global investment: Leverage IASP’s network to connect with international investors and secure funding for innovative projects.
    • Foster strategic partnerships: Collaborate with leading innovation hubs and institutions to accelerate technological advancements.
    • Empower local talent: Provide opportunities for Anambra’s youth to gain exposure to global trends and develop in-demand skills.
    • Drive economic growth: Stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship, creating new jobs and industries.

Chinwe Okoli, Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation and Business Incubation and CEO of SID, expressed her excitement about this achievement. She stated, “Being inducted into IASP as a ‘Full Member’ is a significant milestone for Anambra State. This recognition validates Governor Soludo’s vision of making Anambra a global innovation hub. With IASP’s support, we can accelerate our efforts to build a thriving tech ecosystem and empower our youth.”

SID’s commitment to fostering innovation is evident through initiatives such as Code Anambra, levelUp Anambra, Teen Digital Bootcamp, and the Techstars Startup Weekend. These programs equip young people with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the digital age. Additionally, the “1 Million Anambra Digital Tribe” project aims to empower a larger segment of the population with digital literacy and entrepreneurial skills.

By joining IASP, SID is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of innovation in Africa. The district’s dedication to nurturing talent, fostering collaboration, and promoting technological advancements will contribute to Anambra’s emergence as a leading innovation hub.
