The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has said it is yet to approve the renewal of the Unified Access Service (UASL) Licence granted to Airtel Nigeria as reported by online media. The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) today told the Nigerian House of Representatives that it cannot guarantee 100 percent security of electronic voting and transmission of results. NCC’s executive commissioner, Stakeholder Management (ECSM), Mr. Adeleke Adewolu, who appeared on behalf of the telecom regulator, also said no system is completely free from hackers. “While concerns over the electronic transmission of results are genuine, no system can guarantee a 100 percent shield from hacking,” he said. There are indications that the Nigerian Senate will in the new electoral act amendment bill give power to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to determine electronic voting and transmission of results in subsequent electioneering processes in Nigeria. To ease the reporting of economic and financial crimes, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday launched a computer application known as Eagle Eye. According to the EFCC Chairman, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, the application will complement existing channels of reporting crimes to the anti-corruption body, as it eliminates direct person-to-person interface in the reporting process.
