The Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), has joined other stakeholders in condemning the recent hike in Right of Way charges by 14 state governors in Nigeria. The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), said it received a total of 19,841 complaints from telecoms consumers across its various consumer complaints channels in 2019. In a report titled ‘2019: NCC’s Regulatory Feats’ and distributed to Journalists, the Commission disclosed that out of the 19,841 complaints, it successfully resolved 17,851, representing a 90 percent success rate of consumer complaints resolution during the period under review. Thousands of notifications of attacks on major banks located in the sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) region have been reported by Kaspersky security researchers. The Federal Government has described the decision of some state governors to increase Right of Way charges as an affront and disregards to an earlier resolution reached by the National Economic Council (NEC). The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), said it is ready to replicate here in Nigeria the Swedish Programme for ICT Development in Emerging Regions (SPIDER), a dedicated programme instituted to provide capacity building in emerging markets.
