Babcock International Model United Nations (BIMUN) ignited the spirit of global leadership on August 7th, 2024, as it convened its 8th annual conference. Gathering over 10 African countries’ brightest minds, including students, professionals, and graduates, the event focused on the critical theme, “Agenda 2030: Rebuilding Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity Towards Sustainability for All.”

Held on the serene Babcock University campus, the conference provided a platform for in-depth discussions on pressing global challenges. Renowned governance expert, Dr. Joe Abah, set the tone with a powerful keynote address, emphasizing the pivotal role of trust in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). His call to action resonated deeply with the young delegates, inspiring them to enthusiastically approach their committee work.

BIMUN’s Executive Director, Samuel Chiemela, expressed pride in the conference’s growing impact. “BIMUN is more than a simulation; it’s a crucible for young leaders,” he stated. “By empowering these minds, we invest in a brighter future for Africa and the world.”

The conference featured diverse committees tackling issues from climate change and human rights to security and economic development. Delegates engaged in spirited debates crafted innovative solutions and forged lasting connections. Beyond the committee rooms, cultural exchanges, networking opportunities, and expert-led workshops enriched the experience.

For nearly a decade, BIMUN has been a cornerstone of youth engagement. By fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and global citizenship, the conference continues to catalyze positive change.
