Skool Media Nigeria Limited said it is putting necessary resources together to launch online platforms for the Nigerian students to enable them to learn from home.

This initiative, Nigeria’s based Information and CT solution company with expertise in digital learning will be done through its subsidiary, Edufirst Nigeria Limited as its corporate social responsibility for students whose academic has been truncated as a result of the spread of Covid-19 in some states in the country.

It said it will be using its network of rich human resources to engage students through Edufirst.ng platform, Edufirst TV channel and on youtube. The platform, it added will be freely subscribed to; in order to ensure maximum participation and engagement.

“A simple implementation plan to guide the smooth execution of this remote learning programme has been put in place. For the purpose of this project, we shall focus on Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Computer/ICT, Government, Basic Tech and Basic Sciences. This will be done for both junior and senior secondary school categories.

“We will leverage the support of volunteers (teachers and other volunteers) to teach specific subjects. These volunteers include selected staff who have voluntarily shown interest, secondary school teachers and other private sector professionals.

“We have a plan to upload at least two subjects per day, and each video clip is expected to be between 5-10 minutes with a very clear and simple explanation of the lesson for easy understanding. A work plan will be created and shared with parents for students to follow and aid effective self-study.

“Subject teachers will through the channels teach their subjects while the students will be given the assignment to submit at a certain time of the day. We urge parents, guardians and other caregivers to subscribe to this initiative as a way of advancing technology through education and also closing the on-going gaps created by the global pandemic.

“This is necessary to ensure that students who are now on holiday due to the virus use their time to learn and enhance their educational performance. At this trying period, our students should not be left to just be playing since the academic calendar was truncated due to the dreaded coronal virus.

“We support all different steps government is taking to curb the further spread of the virus as we wish those that have been infected quick recovery. Skool Media also enjoins the public to adhere to various means of staying safe from contacting the virus.

“At Skool Media, our vision is to be a world-class education technology infrastructure company focused on re-tooling the Nigerian education system and providing a platform for the Nigerian child to compete globally.

“Since,2013 we have remained a role model in the adoption of technology in education in Africa and is a reference point for all edu-tech stakeholders. We want to reiterate that Skool Media we will continue to embrace the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) window through the deployment of technology tools for Nigerian students and utilization of our centers to build 21st-century students and teachers technology hubs in Nigeria,” it said in a statement signed by Mr. Sola Oluwadare, Head, Corporate Communications.
