The Chief Executive Officer of TechTV Nigeria, Don Pedro Aganbi, has part of the effort to fight against the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, donated face masks and hand sanitizers to market women in Bariga Market-Lagos.

The donations, which is part of his birthday celebration and in support of the #masklagos campaign by the Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, were received by the Iya Oloja of Bariga Market, Princess Abiodun Jagunmolu

“If you follow my yearly birthday celebration, you know we always empower the less privileged people in our society but this year is special and different. We are in the midst of a global pandemic and we have decided to donate face masks and hand sanitisers to market leaders because the market is a very important segment in the fight against community spread of the virus and we are by this initiative engaging the market leaders to further create awareness among their members.

“All you need is pay a visit to our markets, the use of face mask, washing of hands regularly, social distancing and even sanitization is almost non-existence and the government can’t create this awareness alone, it has to be a collective effort and responsibility and this is our modest contribution,” Aganbi said.

Receiving the donation, the Iya Oloja of Bariga market markets thank Don Pedro and his team for the kind gesture. “If I remember correctly, this is the first time an individual or organization will make this kind of donation and this would certainly go a long way to help spread the awareness because coronavirus is real. I will distribute these sanitisers and face masks immediately. If the sellers have the sanitisers by their sides it will help them to always sanitise their hands at intervals. I am happy you thought of Bariga market because it is one of the most important markets in Lagos” The elated Iya oloja said.

Don Pedro Aganbi also used the medium to thank the Chairman, Ojez Group of Companies, Engr. Joseph Odobeatu, High Chief Nosa Obakpolo, CEO, Global Shipping and gas Investments limited, Chief Mrs. Onos Nakpodia, Chairman, Bluehills International and Mallam Dahatu Ishaq for donating over five thousands face masks and hand sanitisers to help create further awareness and aid the fight against Covid-19.
