Equinix, a global leader in digital infrastructure, has appointed Wole Abu as Managing Director for West Africa. In this role, Abu will oversee Equinix’s operations in Nigeria, Ghana, and Côte d’Ivoire, driving expansion and fostering growth in the region.

Abu, a seasoned telecoms executive, brings over 20 years of industry experience to Equinix. He joins from Liquid Intelligent Technologies, where he served as CEO for Nigeria and Africa Data Centre. His expertise in driving business success, coupled with a passion for leveraging technology for social impact, aligns perfectly with Equinix’s mission.

“I am thrilled to join Equinix and contribute to its vision of expanding digital infrastructure across Africa,” said Abu. “By bridging the digital divide, we can empower businesses and individuals to participate in the global digital economy. I look forward to driving our strategy for connectivity and digital access in West Africa.”

Judith Gardiner, Vice President for Growth and Emerging Markets at Equinix, expressed enthusiasm about Abu’s appointment: “Wole’s expertise will be invaluable as we continue to develop our presence in Africa. By establishing strategic data hubs and supporting our customers, we are accelerating digital transformation and contributing to the continent’s growth potential.”

This appointment follows the recent opening of Equinix’s newest data center in Johannesburg, further solidifying the company’s commitment to Africa’s digital future
