The management of Galaxy Backbone Limited has explained the technology used in the virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meetings in the last three weeks, occasioned by the ravaging Coronavirus pandemic.
While disputing some media reports that the virtual meetings have been held on a platform running a deprecated operating system, thereby presenting potential security issues, the Federal Government-owned last mile infrastructure connectivity company, disclosed that the computers that support the network monitoring system used in the virtual meetings are about 10 in number and all enjoy extended Windows 7 Security Updates until 2023.
“As an organization with the ISO 20000 and ISO 27001 certifications, we take IT service and information security management very seriously and upgrade our systems as need be, based on those standards,” said Prof. Muhammad Bello Abubakar, Chief Executive Officer of Galaxy backbone.
He also assured Nigerians that the virtual Federal Executive Council is holding on cutting edge technology infrastructure with computer components that are up to date, running on a very robust network security system with Next-Generation Firewalls forming a ring-fencing around it.
According to him, the video conferencing system does not run on a Windows operating system.
