Google’s Hustle Academy is back for 2024, and this time it’s packing a powerful punch: Artificial Intelligence (AI) training specifically designed to help small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) thrive in African countries of Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa.

According to a statement, Google believes that SMBs are the lifeblood of Africa’s economy, but many struggle to get the funding and skills they need to grow, with several studies showing a huge funding gap for these businesses. Thus, the Hustle Academy steps in to bridge that gap by offering practical education, mentorship and connections.

The statement disclosed that Google is taking things a step further this year by integrating AI training into the curriculum. “We see immense potential in AI for African SMBs,” said Kristy Grant, Head of B2B Marketing, SSA, insisting that this will help them innovate, streamline operations, and unlock new growth.

The Hustle Academy has supported over 10,000 businesses that have gone ahead to raise funding and create jobs since inception. By incorporating AI into the curriculum, Google aims to further amplify this impact, equipping SMBs to harness AI technologies for improved business performance and economic progress.

The new AI modules focus on data-driven decisions, optimising operations, and building AI-powered marketing strategies. Participants will explore practical applications through modules like “Boost Your Productivity with AI” and “Marketing Strategy and AI,” learning how to save time and supercharge digital outreach.

Applications for the 2024 Hustle Academy cohort are open to SMBs in Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa, and the program will run through the end of the year. For more information and to apply, visit g.co/hustleacademy.
