In a significant stride towards digital transformation, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, MINI, today marked her 100th day in office by unveiling three groundbreaking digital platforms: Govmail, ServiceWise GPT, and the Federal Civil Service Online Portal.

These innovative solutions, spearheaded by the Head of Civil Service, underscore the Nigerian government’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance efficiency, transparency, and service delivery.

    Govmail: A Secure, Homegrown Solution

A centerpiece of this digital revolution is Govmail, a secure, Nigeria-centric email platform developed by Galaxy Backbone (GBB). This robust solution is designed to streamline communication, boost productivity, and safeguard sensitive government information.

“Govmail is a game-changer for our nation’s civil service,” said Mrs. Walson-Jack. “It empowers our public servants with a secure, efficient, and reliable communication tool, while also strengthening our digital sovereignty.”

    A Collaborative Effort

The development of Govmail is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the Head of Civil Service, Galaxy Backbone, and the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy.

Professor Ibrahim A. Adeyanju, Managing Director/CEO of Galaxy Backbone, emphasized the platform’s significance: “Govmail is more than just an email service; it’s a catalyst for digital transformation. It enables our civil servants to work more efficiently, securely, and collaboratively.”

Engr. Faruk Yusuf Yabo, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, highlighted the strategic importance of Govmail: “By adopting a homegrown solution, we reduce our reliance on foreign platforms, enhance security, and save costs.”

    A Brighter Digital Future

The rapid rollout of Govmail to over 70,000 Federal civil servants is a testament to the government’s dedication to digital transformation. This initiative marks a significant step towards building a digitally empowered and globally competitive public service.

As Nigeria embraces the digital age, Govmail and other innovative solutions will play a crucial role in shaping a brighter future for the nation.
