Mr. Gbenga Adegbiji, the Chief Operating Officer of MDXi, carrier-neutral data Center has highlighted how the company is reaping the full benefit of its $1million investment in green power initiatives embarked upon some years ago.
The company said the investment, which is a direct connection of its Lekki Data Center to the national grid is giving MDXi 100% power availability from the grid through the Eko Electric Distribution Company (EKEDC).
“We have started to reap the full benefits of our green power initiatives embarked upon some years ago with an investment of close to $1m in direct connection of our Lekki Data Center to the national grid in order to enjoy 100% power availability from the grid, “ said Mr. Adegbiji.
He added that this excellent availability record meant the company did not have to run any of our four heavy-duty generating sets, thereby saving a huge amount of carbon emissions, and contributing its own quota to the environment. The availability, according to him also means the stability of all facility equipment and more peace of mind for MDXi’s customers aside from the added benefit of reducing the carbon footprint.
MDXi, a fully owned subsidiary of MainOne, is leading the way in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in its quest to promote sustainable development. This is in need to maintain equilibrium between human development and preserve the environment, which has brought huge focus on carbon footprint and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions management.

Obtaining 100% of its power supply from the National Grid due to private investment implies the company can reduce its dependence on fossil fuels. In addition, even before construction commenced, the organization ensured that the Data Center was positioned in a location with access to the national grid.
