The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, MON, briefed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the recent security situation in Sokoto State and the progress made by the Nigerian Military in combating insecurity in the region.

During his operational tours, Dr. Matawalle witnessed firsthand the significant successes achieved by the Nigerian Military in neutralizing bandit leaders and restoring order. He praised the dedication, professionalism, and courage of the troops, emphasizing their vital role in safeguarding the nation.

The Minister commended President Tinubu’s government for its unwavering commitment to providing the necessary resources to enhance the military’s capabilities and ensure effective operations. He also reaffirmed the government’s resolve to strengthen the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) as a strategic asset in the fight against insecurity.

Dr. Matawalle’s visit to Sokoto State aimed to reassure the people of the government’s determination to restore peace and security to the North-West region. The elimination of bandit leaders, including Halilu Buzu sububu, demonstrated the government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating banditry and terrorism.

The Minister urged residents of Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, and Kebbi states to remain vigilant and cooperate with security forces to ensure the success of ongoing operations.

President Tinubu expressed his satisfaction with the briefing and commended the Minister and the troops for their renewed efforts to address the security challenges in the North-West and the country as a whole.
